Brong-Ahafo Region
Brong-Ahafo ( /ˈbrɵŋˈæhæfoʊ/ BRONG-AHA-foh) is one of the five regions of Akanland and the largest of Akanland, and the second largest in Ghana. Brong-Ahafo is located in northern Akanland, between Western region, Ashanti and Eastern region to the south and the Black Volta River to the north. Brong-Ahafo is the origin and first settlement of Akans in Akanland. The population of Brong-Ahafo are Akans, making up 99.4% of the Brong-Ahafo population, and the official language of Brong-Ahafo is Akan. Brong-Ahafo is the third largest producer of cocoa in Akanland, after Western region, Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo has substantial agricultural lands, forests and gold reserves. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani, and it covers an area of 39,557 square kilometres. Brong-Ahafo is divided into 22 districts.
