Brocket Hall - Recent Use

Recent Use

In the late 20th century Charles Nall-Cain, 3rd Baron Brocket, during his time in prison for insurance fraud, sold his estate on a 60 year leasehold to CCA (Club Corporation of Asia) based in Hong Kong. The company converted Brocket Hall into a hotel and conference centre and built a second eighteen hole golf course (Palmerston Course). Further facilities include a Faldo Golf Institute, and a restaurant called Auberge du Lac which was formerly associated with celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and currently has a Michelin Star.

Brocket Hall has also been used as filming location for a number of large-scale film and television productions, including Johnny English Reborn, The Queen, Willow, and Pride and Prejudice featuring Colin Firth.

Famous quotes containing the word use:

... it is use, and use alone, which leads one of us, tolerably trained to recognize any criterion of grace or any sense of the fitness of things, to tolerate ... the styles of dress to which we are more or less conforming every day of our lives. Fifty years hence they will seem to us as uncultivated as the nose-rings of the Hottentot seem today.
    Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844–1911)
