Attractions

Broadway at the Beach is home to many attractions, such as the Carmike 3D Theatre, MagiQuest, the award-winning Ripley's Aquarium, Palace Theatre, Carmike’s Broadway Cinema 16 and the Pavilion Nostalgia Park, which features nine rides from the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion, one of Myrtle Beach’s most popular family attractions for 58 years. It also formerly featured a NASCAR Speedpark.

Among Broadway at the Beach’s many restaurants are Hard Rock Café, Johnny Rockets, Planet Hollywood, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and the world's only KISS Coffeehouse. The complex’s Celebrity Square includes a New Orleans-inspired nightclub district.

Popular retail destinations include Ron Jon Surf Shop, Retro Active, Planet Rock 'n Roll, Planet Hollywood Superstore, formerly a Discovery Channel Store, and Yankee Candle. The complex also has a special built Build-A-Bear Workshop.

In October 2010, Legends in Concert held its last show in nearby Surfside Beach before moving to the former Club Kryptonite location, expected on March 17, 2011. WonderWorks, described as "a science attraction housed in an upside-down building", opened April 4, 2011.

On December 30, 2010, it was announced that the Pat Boone Family Theater would open in May 2011 in the former NASCAR Cafe. The economic crisis has been one of the reasons for delays, but on May 25, 2011, the theater received the first of several needed permits from the city. The $1 million project was set to be complete in August 2011, but the opening date was delayed twice.

On April 1, 2012, Backstage Mirror Maze and The Vault Laser Maze are scheduled to open. The maze attraction recalls an actual bank robbery in Times Square from the 1930s.

Famous quotes containing the word attractions:

Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.
    Andy Warhol (1928–1987)

The world,—this shadow of the soul, or other me, lies wide around. Its attractions are the keys which unlock my thoughts and make me acquainted with myself. I run eagerly into this resounding tumult. I grasp the hands of those next to me, and take my place in the ring to suffer and to work, taught by an instinct, that so shall the dumb abyss be vocal with speech.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
