On 8 May 2012 it was confirmed by the Transport Secretary Justine Greening through the DfT that the entire fleet of Class 456s will transfer across to South West Trains, where they will be used in conjunction with their Class 455 Fleet on the London Inner Suburban lines.SWT will be using the 456's to enhance peak hour Waterloo-Woking,Guildford via Cobham,& Kingston loop services from 8 to 10 coaches,& to provide 2 additional morning peak services from Raynes Park to Waterloo. These changes will happen from December 2014,once platforms 1-5 at Waterloo have been extended.
The Southern services on the South London Line will be withdrawn in 2012 and replaced by a new London Overground service operated using new air conditioned trains which Modern Railways magazine reports will be 4 car Class 378 units. Southern are also due to get 130 new carriages by December 2013, in place of 92 cascaded carriages promised for extra capacity. This gives a total of 50 replacement carriages in addition to the 92 carriages for extra capacity, leaving the 48 Class 456 carriages surplus to requirements at Southern.

Famous quotes containing the word future:
“Imagination places the future world for us either above or below or in reincarnation. We dream of travels throughout the universe: is not the universe within us? We do not know the depths of our spirit. M The mysterious path leads within. In us, or nowhere, lies eternity with its worlds, the past and the future.”
—Novalis [Friedrich Von Hardenberg] (17721801)
“I am succeeding quite well in my work and the future looks well. What special mission is God preparing me for? Cutting off all earthly ties and isolating me as it were.”
—Ellen Henrietta Swallow Richards (18421911)
“Peace does not appear so distant as it did. I hope it will come soon, and come to stay; and so come as to be worth the keeping in all future time. It will then have been proved that, among free men, there can be no successful appeal from the ballot to the bullet; and that they who take such appeal are sure to lose their case, and pay the cost.”
—Abraham Lincoln (18091865)
