Plans
As part of its announcement of the electrification of both the Great Western Main Line and the Liverpool to Manchester (via Newton Le Willows) route, the Government has announced that when new Thameslink rolling stock arrives from 2015-2018. Class 319s will be refurbished, fitted with air-conditioning, and transferred to the following two routes:
- to operate all suburban services between Oxford, Newbury, Reading and London
- to operate Manchester Airport to Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street services
