British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League

The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) is a non-varsity college ice hockey league based in British Columbia and the US state of Washington. The BCIHL was created with the purpose of offering a venue for competitive, high-calibre ice hockey for players beyond their junior and minor hockey careers.

Each BCIHL team plays a 16-game league schedule that consists of two 2-game home-and-away series with each competitor. The top four teams from the league's regular season then face-off in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championships, a round-robin format tournament held each year in March.

In 2011, the BCIHL accepted its first US-based team in Eastern Washington University, which had previously played in the American Collegiate Hockey Association at the Division II level. Before 2011, the BCIHL consisted entirely of teams from British Columbia.

Famous quotes containing the words british, columbia and/or league:

All of Western tradition, from the late bloom of the British Empire right through the early doom of Vietnam, dictates that you do something spectacular and irreversible whenever you find yourself in or whenever you impose yourself upon a wholly unfamiliar situation belonging to somebody else. Frequently it’s your soul or your honor or your manhood, or democracy itself, at stake.
    June Jordan (b. 1939)

The young women, what can they not learn, what can they not achieve, with Columbia University annex thrown open to them? In this great outlook for women’s broader intellectual development I see the great sunburst of the future.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)

Stereotypes fall in the face of humanity. You toodle along, thinking that all gay men wear leather after dark and should never, ever be permitted around a Little League field. And then one day your best friend from college, the one your kids adore, comes out to you.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
