British Columbia Electoral Districts

This is a list of British Columbia's 85 provincial electoral districts (also colloquially known as ridings in Canadian English) as defined by the Redistribution of 2008, which came into effect for the 2009 election.

Electoral districts are constituencies that elect MLAs to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia every election.

Obsolete historical districts are listed in the British Columbia provincial electoral districts category page, which can be reached via the Canadian electoral districts category link at the bottom of the individual riding pages listed below.

Famous quotes containing the words british, columbia, electoral and/or districts:

    I know an Englishman,
Being flattered, is a lamb; threatened, a lion.
George Chapman c. 1559–1634, British dramatist, poet, translator. repr. In Plays and Poems of George Chapman: The Tragedies, ed. Thomas Marc Parrott (1910)

The young women, what can they not learn, what can they not achieve, with Columbia University annex thrown open to them? In this great outlook for women’s broader intellectual development I see the great sunburst of the future.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)

Nothing is more unreliable than the populace, nothing more obscure than human intentions, nothing more deceptive than the whole electoral system.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)

Cities need old buildings so badly it is probably impossible for vigorous streets and districts to grow without them.... for really new ideas of any kind—no matter how ultimately profitable or otherwise successful some of them might prove to be—there is no leeway for such chancy trial, error and experimentation in the high-overhead economy of new construction. Old ideas can sometimes use new buildings. New ideas must use old buildings.
    Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)
