Brighton Beach (54°7′S 37°10′W / 54.117°S 37.167°W / -54.117; -37.167Coordinates: 54°7′S 37°10′W / 54.117°S 37.167°W / -54.117; -37.167) is a beach lying between Zero Point and Adventure Point in Possession Bay, on the north coast of South Georgia. The name appears on a chart showing the results of a survey by DI personnel in 1926–30, and derives from the beach being as crowded with fauna as Brighton Beach, which is a popular tourist resort on the south coast of England.
Famous quotes containing the word beach:
“From the beach the child holding the hand of her father,
Those burial clouds that lower victorious soon to devour all,
Watching, silently weeps.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
