It became a parish church in 1842, covering the areas of Brockmoor, Delph, and Quarry Bank. In 1872, construction commenced on St. Mary's Church. Designed by E. W. There is also a Chinese Buddhist temple located in Brierley Hill, to cater for the Buddhist community of the Dudley Borough.

Famous quotes containing the word religion:

Your honesty is not to be based either on religion or policy. Both your religion and policy must be based on it. Your honesty must be based, as the sun is, in vacant heaven; poised, as the lights in the firmament, which have rule over the day and over the night.
    John Ruskin (1819–1900)

Existentialism is about being a saint without God; being your own hero, without all the sanction and support of religion or society.
    Anita Brookner (b. 1938)

I do love this people [the French] with all my heart, and think that with a better religion and a better form of government and their present governors their condition and country would be most enviable.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
