Briarwood Christian School - Discipline

Discipline

Minor cases of student misconduct are punished with detention. Where this proves ineffective, and for any significant offenses, a spanking is administered. Spanking is usually administered only in elementary and junior high school. The school believes the Bible teaches the use of corporal punishment in the discipline of young people. Staff are instructed to use the paddle whenever necessary. Spanking is not carried out in the presence of other students. Serious misconduct leads to suspension.

Famous quotes containing the word discipline:

Discipline isn’t just punishing, forcing compliance or stamping out bad behavior. Rather, discipline has to do with teaching proper deportment, caring about others, controlling oneself and putting someone else’s wishes before one’s own when the occasion calls for it.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)

If the factory people outside the colleges live under the discipline of narrow means, the people inside live under almost every other kind of discipline except that of narrow means—from the fruity austerities of learning, through the iron rations of English gentlemanhood, down to the modest disadvantages of occupying cold stone buildings without central heating and having to cross two or three quadrangles to take a bath.
    Margaret Halsey (b. 1910)

... the surest test of discipline is its absence.
    Clara Barton (1821–1912)
