Breast Disease

Breast Disease

Breast diseases can be classified either with disorders of the integuement, or disorders of the reproductive system. A majority of breast diseases are noncancerous.

Breast awareness is a goal of the breast health movement. Rather than promoting the largely ineffective, formally structured breast self-examinations, breast awareness promotes informal familiarity with the normal state of a woman's breasts.

Famous quotes containing the words breast and/or disease:

    Laughter and grief join hands. Always the heart
    Clumps in the breast with heavy stride;
    The face grows lined and wrinkled like a chart,
    The eyes bloodshot with tears and tide.
    Let the wind blow, for many a man shall die.
    Karl Shapiro (b. 1913)

    Smoking ... is downright dangerous. Most people who smoke will eventually contract a fatal disease and die. But they don’t brag about it, do they? Most people who ski, play professional football or drive race cars, will not die—at least not in the act—and yet they are the ones with the glamorous images, the expensive equipment and the mythic proportions. Why this should be I cannot say, unless it is simply that the average American does not know a daredevil when he sees one.
    Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)
