Breast Cancer Haven

Breast Cancer Haven is a charity in the United Kingdom which rebranded in September 2010 and is now called The Haven.

The Haven runs centres in London, Hereford and Leeds, offering free support, information and complementary therapies to anyone affected emotionally or physically by breast cancer and its associated treatments. Specialist nurses and experts in nutrition, exercise and emotional support provide tailor-made programmes for every person who comes through the doors. The Haven's outreach programme has been specially developed for people who can't get to a Haven's so they can benefit from The Haven's unique care in the comfort of their own home.

Famous quotes containing the words breast, cancer and/or haven:

So if hunger provokes wailing and wailing brings the breast; if the breast permits sucking and milk suggests its swallow; if swallowing issues in sleep and stomachy comfort, then need, ache, message, object, act, and satisfaction are soon associated like charms on a chain; shortly our wants begin to envision the things which well reduce them, and the organism is finally said to wish.
    William Gass (b. 1924)

We “need” cancer because, by the very fact of its incurability, it makes all other diseases, however virulent, not cancer.
Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. “Under the Sign of Cancer,” Myths and Memories (1986)

The dry eucalyptus seeks god in the rainy cloud.
Professor Eucalyptus of New Haven seeks him
In New Haven with an eye that does not look
    Beyond the object.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
