Breakfast News

Breakfast News was a breakfast news show which first aired on BBC One on 2 October 1989, the launch having been delayed from 18 September 1989. The programme was previously known as Breakfast Time.

The programme went through three main visual changes. The initial look lasted from launch in 1989 to 1993. The 1993 revamp saw the programme presented from the same set as the One, Six and Nine O'Clock News bulletins. A further and final revamp took place in 1997 when 'BBC' was shorn from its title, and on-screen it became known as simply Breakfast News. It was during this final period that the tone began to shift, with the return of a sofa set, alongside more features, and more interaction between the presenting team.

The final edition of Breakfast News aired on 15 September 2000, and on 2 October 2000 it relaunched as BBC Breakfast.

Famous quotes containing the words breakfast and/or news:

As soon as we are born, if we could but get up, bath, dress, shave, breakfast once for all, if we could ‘cut’ these monotonous cycles of routine. If the sun rose it would stay up, or once we were alive we were immortal!
    W.N.P. Barbellion (1889–1919)

The technological landscape of the present day has enfranchised its own electorates—the inhabitants of marketing zones in the consumer goods society, television audiences and news magazine readerships... vote with money at the cash counter rather than with the ballot paper at the polling booth.
