Brashear has been home to successful athletes like Major Harris and Mike "The Hammer" Ford. Coach Ron Wabby was the head coach since the opening season until the 2007 season where he finished his legacy with an undefeated season and capturing the City League title. Wabby set the standard of hard hitting defense and a successful offensive rushing attack for western Pennsylvania football.

From 1979 to 1988, Brashear won seven City League titles, all outright. Brashear is the only City League “AAAA” rep to play in a PIAA semi-final, falling in 1988 to Pittsburgh Central Catholic, 19-14. Brashear has never tied for a City League title.
