Brandon University Students' Union - Services

Services

BUSU offers many services to students. Student bus passes and tickets are sold at the BUSU office. Computers are also available for student use during office hours. International Student Identity Cards(ISIC) can be obtained at the BUSU office. The BUSU food bank is a confidential service available to all Brandon University students in need of assistance. The food bank is operated by volunteers and sustained through donations and BUSU financing.

Handbook
Each year the students' union produces 3,000 student planners, which are available to students for free. The handbook provides valuable information about the university and the students' union along with a weekly calendar for students to track course assignments and all of their extra curricular activities.

Work Study
BUSU and the Brandon University operate a work study program. The program is a distinct opportunity for our students to gain and experience a unique academic related work experience in their field of study.

Textbook Registry
BUSU offers students an online textbook registry. Students are able to fill out an online "Sell Your Textbook Form" and have their textbook advertised.

Health and Dental Plan
In 2008, Brandon University students voted in favor of creating a Health and Dental Plan for students who do not have coverage otherwise. BUSU works with the Canadian Federation of Students' National student Health Network to provide health coverage to students. The coverage provided to students is through Green Shield, which is Canada's only, not for profit insurance provider.

BUSU Tutor Registry
BUSU allows students to find qualified tutors for courses in which they would like extra support and allows independent tutors a place to post contact information.

Famous quotes containing the word services:

I see this evident, that we willingly accord to piety only the services that flatter our passions.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

Men will say that in supporting their wives, in furnishing them with houses and food and clothes, they are giving the women as much money as they could ever hope to earn by any other profession. I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.
    Elizabeth M. Gilmer (1861–1951)

Those services which the community will most readily pay for, it is most disagreeable to render.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
