The Bournemouth Jewish Social Centre
An essential part of the social life at Bournemouth Reform Synagogue is the Bournemouth Jewish Social Centre, formerly called the Day Centre held on a Monday lunchtime. The Day Centre brings together Jews from all denominations across Bournemouth, and is a place for entertainment, good food and socialising. In 2006, the Day Centre celebrated its 25th anniversary. It is still one of the least expensive day centres across the country.

Famous quotes containing the words jewish, social and/or centre:
“For every nineteenth-century middle-class family that protected its wife and child within the family circle, there was an Irish or a German girl scrubbing floors in that home, a Welsh boy mining coal to keep the home-baked goodies warm, a black girl doing the family laundry, a black mother and child picking cotton to be made into clothes for the family, and a Jewish or an Italian daughter in a sweatshop making ladies dresses or artificial flowers for the family to purchase.”
—Stephanie Coontz (20th century)
“I have more in common with a Mexican man than with a white woman.... This opinion ... chagrins women who sincerely believe our female physiology unequivocally binds all women throughout the world, despite the compounded social prejudices that daily affect us all in different ways. Although women everywhere experience life differently from men everywhere, white women are members of a race that has proclaimed itself globally superior for hundreds of years.”
—Ana Castillo (b. 1953)
“To make our idea of morality centre on forbidden acts is to defile the imagination and to introduce into our judgments of our fellow-men a secret element of gusto.”
—Robert Louis Stevenson (18501894)
