In the autumn of 2010, BUSM's first year medical students were 52% female, and 19% were of an ethnicity that is under-represented in medicine. Over 11,000 people applied for admission to BUSM in 2010, and 171 MD students and 7 MD/PhD students were in the entering class, from 37 states and 19 countries. The acceptance rate for the incoming class was 4.3%. Students' ages ranged from 20 to 40.

Famous quotes containing the words class and/or profile:

    Think of what our Nation stands for,
    Books from Boots’ and country lanes,
    Free speech, free passes, class distinction,
    Democracy and proper drains.
    Sir John Betjeman (1906–1984)

    Nature centres into balls,
    And her proud ephemerals,
    Fast to surface and outside,
    Scan the profile of the sphere;
    Knew they what that signified,
    A new genesis were here.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
