Bose Wave Systems

Bose Wave Systems

Bose Corporation's Wave Music Systems are table top audio systems which were first released in 1984. Various Wave systems comprise CD players, DAB tuners and inputs for computer sources, and in addition most models contain an AM/FM tuner.

Wave systems use a folded waveguide (a series of passages from the speaker driver driver to the speaker grill), in an attempt to replicate sound from larger systems in a compact design. Bose claims the waveguide "produces full, clear stereo sound from a small enclosure by guiding air through two 26” folded wave guides". In 1987, Amar G. Bose and William R. Short won the 'Inventor of the Year' award from the Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation for the 'Waveguide' loudspeaker system employing a folded acoustic waveguide.

Famous quotes containing the words bose, wave and/or systems:

A woman is a sometime thing.
    —Du Bose Heyward (1885–1940)

I don’t know a great deal about life in Washington for women—I spent a summer there once working in the White House, and my main memories of the experience have to do with a very bad permanent wave I have always been convinced kept me from having a meaningful relationship with President Kennedy ...
    Nora Ephron (b. 1941)

The geometry of landscape and situation seems to create its own systems of time, the sense of a dynamic element which is cinematising the events of the canvas, translating a posture or ceremony into dynamic terms. The greatest movie of the 20th century is the Mona Lisa, just as the greatest novel is Gray’s Anatomy.
