"Borrowed Time" is a single release from Styx's 1979 triple-platinum album Cornerstone. The song was a collaboration, with lyrics by Dennis DeYoung and music by Tommy Shaw. It features a fast, hard-driving rhythm, and the memorable ending refrain, "Faith be with me now / I'm just a dreamer in a dreamland".
The band opened their concerts with this song, on their 1979-1980 "Grand Decathlon Tour" in support of Cornerstone. Next, it would serve as the first encore on the band's 1981-1982 Paradise Theatre tour.
"Borrowed Time" was the third single released of Cornerstone and was a chart disappointment, peaking at #61 on the Pop Chart in the summer of 1980.

Famous quotes containing the words borrowed and/or time:
“A great proportion of architectural ornaments are literally hollow, and a September gale would strip them off, like borrowed plumes, without injury to the substantials.... What if an equal ado were made about the ornaments of style in literature, and the architects of our bibles spent as much time about their cornices as the architects of our churches do? So are made the belles-lettres and the beaux-arts and their professors.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Publicity is the life of this culturein so far as without publicity capitalism could not surviveand at the same time publicity is its dream.”
—John Berger (b. 1926)
