International Career

Valero represented the Spain under-19 team at the 2004 European championships. In the final, against Turkey, he entered the match as an 85th-minute substitute and, two minutes into stoppage time, "twisted and turned his way into the Turkish penalty area and produced a perfect chip from the corner of the box" to score the only goal of the game.

On 4 June 2011, he made his senior debut for Spain against the United States in Foxborough, Massachusetts. He replaced David Silva in the second half, and assisted Fernando Torres in the last goal.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

A black boxer’s career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
