Famous quotes containing the words bonnie lee, bonnie and/or lee:

Bonnie Lee: Why doesn’t he jump?
Kidd Dabb: Why, why should he jump? He’s made of rubber, he is. He wants to hit the ground to see how high he can bounce.
    Jules Furthman (1888–1960)

Ye banks and braes o’ bonnie Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
    Departed never to return.
    Robert Burns (1759–1796)

I’d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you’ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.... Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.
    —Harper Lee (b. 1926)
