Boinx Software

Boinx Software is a Puchheim-based German software company that specializes in applications for Mac OS X and iOS. It was founded in 1996 by brothers Achim and Oliver Breidenbach. They chose Boinx because they wanted a name that was artificial, young, hip, fun, pronounced the same in German and English and could also be a sound. Boinx Software claims their motivation as a dedication to make fun, easy to use and powerful applications for creative people.

As of 2010, the firm's applications have won several Apple Design Awards, including BoinxTV (2009 Best Mac OS X Leopard Developer Showcase), FotoMagico (2008 Best Mac OS X Leopard Graphics and Media Application runner-up & 2006 Best Mac OS X User Experience runner-up) and PhotoPresenter (2006 Best Mac OS X Student Project).

The firm's BoinxTV for video production, created in partnership with TheCodingMonkeys, is one of the winners of the Apple Design Award 2009 and has received mostly positive reviews from the Macintosh community, especially among Podcasters. Bastian Wölfle, producer and host of the DigitalUpgrade & BitnappingTV video podcasts says that, “The first time I saw BoinxTV I knew this would change the way I'd create video podcasts forever." Jordi Duran i Batidor of Biz-News.com reviewed BoinxTV and found it "a great application, easy to use and powerful."

Their iStopmotion Software, which aims to make stop motion animation more accessible to the average creative hobbyist, has also received generally positive reviews.
