Curriculum

Boclair Academy follows Standard Grade, Intermediate and Higher National Qualifications provided by the SQA, but will implement the new national 4 and national 5 qualifications in 2013-2014 which the Scottish Executive have introduced to replace Standard Grade and Intermediate courses. The school will then follow on to implement the new higher and advanced higher courses in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 respectively. Pupils are presented for Standard Grade Mathematics and English at the end of S3. Pupils will sit a further 6 Standard Grades in S4. In S5/6 have the choice pupils sit up to 5 highers in various subjects and then up to 3 Advanced highers in S6 in only Mathematics, English, the Sciences, Languages, Social Subjects, Art and Music. As of November 2010, Drama class became a necessary subject as part of the curriculum in a newly built drama room. The school raised over £1800 to employ a local professional actor to teach this class.
