Bob Quinn (Australian Footballer) - Return To Football

Return To Football

Despite his injuries, Quinn returned to Australia and spent the end of the 1944 SANFL season playing for a combined Port Adelaide/West Torrens side in a reduced competition due to the war.

Quinn's injuries and years away from competition meant he was a slower player than in his pre-war career and was forced to change his playing style, running with the ball less and increased his use of handball.

Playing in the Second Semi Final against Sturt/South Adelaide, Quinn broke his arm early in the last term but played out the match.

Famous quotes containing the words return and/or football:

The future of humanity is uncertain, even in the most prosperous countries, and the quality of life deteriorates; and yet I believe that what is being discovered about the infinitely large and infinitely small is sufficient to absolve this end of the century and millennium. What a very few are acquiring in knowledge of the physical world will perhaps cause this period not to be judged as a pure return of barbarism.
    Primo Levi (1919–1987)

In football they measure forty-yard sprints. Nobody runs forty yards in basketball. Maybe you run the ninety-four feet of the court; then you stop, not on a dime, but on Miss Liberty’s torch. In football you run over somebody’s face.
    Donald Hall (b. 1928)
