Board Toilet

Board toilets are built-in rooms in vehicles, equipped with a toilet, for the use of human defecation.

The small rooms also often are equipped with at least a sink, liquid soap and paper towels for hand washing. Except in luxury versions, these kind of toilets are usually small and uncomfortable.

The feces are put in a basin (chemical toilets except on aircraft where a holding tank is utilized) or, on some ships, piped overboard. They are found in large aircraft, ships including manned spacecraft, some road vehicles (recreational vehicles, coaches) and many passenger train cars.

Famous quotes containing the words board and/or toilet:

Don’t tell me what delusion he entertains regarding God, or what mountebank he follows in politics, or what he springs from, or what he submits to from his wife. Simply tell me how he makes his living. It is the safest and surest of all known tests. A man who gets his board and lodging on this ball in an ignominious way is inevitably an ignominious man.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

Surely it is one of the requisites of a tasteful garb that the expression of effort to please shall be wanting in it; that the mysteries of the toilet shall not be suggested by it; that the steps to its completion shall be knocked away like the sculptor’s ladder from the statue, and the mental force expended upon it be swept away out of sight like the chips on the studio floor.
    Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844–1911)
