In November 2010, the United States Environmental Protection Agency reported pesticide residues on common foods as determined by the USDA. Also summarized by the Environmental Working Group, blueberries were indicated as a significant concern.

Because "wild" is a marketing term generally used for all low-bush blueberries, it is no guarantee that pesticides have not been used. For example, the application of pesticides is common in large-scale blueberry monoculture in Maine.
