Blue raspberry is a common flavoring for candy, snack foods, sweet syrups and soft drinks. It is more commonly used in the United States, as a sweet flavoring. The flavor originates from Rubus leucodermis, more commonly known as the "Whitebark Raspberry" or "Blue Raspberry" for the blue-black color of its fruit.
Food products labeled as Blue Raspberry flavor often contain a bright blue food coloring, the most common being Brilliant Blue FCF (although this coloring is not accurate to the real-life color of the fruit).
Famous quotes containing the words blue and/or flavor:
“I have just come down from my father.
Higher and higher he lies
Above me in a blue light
Shed by a tinted window.”
—James Dickey (b. 1923)
“No man ever quite believes in any other man. One may believe in an idea absolutely, but not in a man. In the highest confidence there is always a flavor of doubta feeling, half instinctive and half logical, that, after all, the scoundrel may have something up his sleeve.”
—H.L. (Henry Lewis)
