Blue Line (Montreal Metro) - Future Extensions

Future Extensions

The Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT), published a study, Vision 2020 in December 2011. According to this study, the Blue line will be extended northeast of Saint-Michel to Anjou. There are a total of five planned new stations;. The terminus would be located at the shopping center Galeries d'Anjou, near the junction of Autoroute 25 and Autoroute 40.

Another proposed expansion involved extending the blue line southwest from Snowdon. This extension would serve Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Côte-Saint-Luc and Montreal West. This Metro extension has been put on hold indefinitely.

The Édouard-Montpetit station is located near the northern entrance of the Mount Royal Tunnel. Plans to link the station to the AMT's Blainville–Saint-Jérôme line were not pursued because the height difference between the two levels is 50 meters.

The following are some of the proposed stations

East:

  • Pie-IX
  • Viau
  • Lacordaire
  • Langelier
  • Anjou

West:

  • Nôtre-Dame-de-Grâce
  • Cavendish
  • Montreal-West

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or extensions:

The future is the worst thing about the present.
    Gustave Flaubert (1821–1880)

The psychological umbilical cord is more difficult to cut than the real one. We experience our children as extensions of ourselves, and we feel as though their behavior is an expression of something within us...instead of an expression of something in them. We see in our children our own reflection, and when we don’t like what we see, we feel angry at the reflection.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)
