Publication History
Bloodshot was created by Don Perlin and Kevin VanHook in the mid 1990s during a wave of popularity for the Valiant Universe. Bloodshot became an immediate hit with readers, as the first issue had sold close to 1 million copies. Bloodshot has become one of the most popular Valiant characters continuing a long run and selling millions of copies until Acclaim Entertainment purchased the Valiant Universe for $65 million. Bloodshot comics have been translated into a number of languages including German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Filipino and Chinese among others. Bloodshot was re-booted (with the majority of the other Valiant Universe characters) under the banner of Acclaim Comics in 1996. Acclaim re-launched the title in a new direction that was more easily adaptable to video games which was Acclaim's core business. Valiant Entertainment is the current owner of the Valiant Character Catalog, including Bloodshot.
A 2012 relaunch of Valiant's publishing has confirmed that Bloodshot will be involved with a new ongoing comic series written by Duane Swierczynski. The new ongoing series will come out July 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words publication and/or history:
“I would rather have as my patron a host of anonymous citizens digging into their own pockets for the price of a book or a magazine than a small body of enlightened and responsible men administering public funds. I would rather chance my personal vision of truth striking home here and there in the chaos of publication that exists than attempt to filter it through a few sets of official, honorably public-spirited scruples.”
—John Updike (b. 1932)
“The disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present. History is a hill or high point of vantage, from which alone men see the town in which they live or the age in which they are living.”
—Gilbert Keith Chesterton (18741936)
