Blackfriars Millennium Pier

Blackfriars Millennium Pier is a pier on the River Thames, in the Blackfriars area of London, United Kingdom. It is served by boats operating under licence from London River Services and is situated on the north bank of the Thames, adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge.

The pier is located almost directly in front of the large Art Deco building Unilever House. It is also a short walk across the bridge from the Tate Modern art gallery.

Blackfriars Millennium Pier is close to Blackfriars station, providing a transport interchange with Thameslink and South Eastern rail services, and with the Circle and District Lines on the London Underground. The Pier is seen predominantly as a commuter pier and thus is not typically served by River Bus services during weekend and bank holiday periods.

Upstream of the pier is moored the former HMS President.

Famous quotes containing the words millennium and/or pier:

At the end of one millennium and nine centuries of Christianity, it remains an unshakable assumption of the law in all Christian countries and of the moral judgment of Christians everywhere that if a man and a woman, entering a room together, close the door behind them, the man will come out sadder and the woman wiser.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

    Duccio came not by usura
nor Pier della Francesca; Zuan Bellin’ not by usura
    nor was ‘La Calunnia’ painted.
Came not by usura Angelico; came not Ambrogio Praedis,
Came no church of cut stone signed: Adamo me fecit.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
