Black Path Game - Rules

Rules

The Black Path Game is played on a board ruled into squares. Any square that is not empty is filled with one of the following configurations:

These tiles are the three ways to join the sides of the square in pairs. The first two are the tiles of the Truchet tiling. One edge on the boundary of the board is designated to be the start of the path. The players alternate filling the square just after the end of the current path with one of the three configrations above, extending the path. The path may return to a previously filled square and follow the yet-unused segment on that square. The player who first causes the path to run back into the edge of the board loses the game.

Famous quotes containing the word rules:

Now for civil service reform. Legislation must be prepared and executive rules and maxims. We must limit and narrow the area of patronage. We must diminish the evils of office-seeking. We must stop interference of federal officers with elections. We must be relieved of congressional dictation as to appointments.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

It was one of the rules which above all others made Doctr. Franklin the most amiable man in society, “never to contradict any body.”
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

[O]ur rules can have authority over such natural rights only as we have submitted to them. The rights of conscience we never submitted, we could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
