Black Hood - Mighty Crusaders

Mighty Crusaders

During the 1960s the Black Hood returned as a founding member of The Mighty Crusaders published by Archie Comics. In the 1960s, he was also seen teaching Karate in issues of Adventures of the Jaguar. Revived again in the 1980s under Archie's Red Circle Comics line, the Black Hood's second incarnation was the nephew of the first. Thomas "Kip" Burland was given the secret identity by the "first" Black Hood, who recanted that the family had in fact used the pseudonym throughout history. This version is less flamboyantly costumed, preferring to wear the mask with regular biker leathers, rides a high performance motorcycle and is typically armed with a custom designed Pepper-box pistol with multiple functions.

The Kip Burland Black Hood was unmasked in court by a character named "Neelednoodle". Thereafter, Burland became a private detective.

Famous quotes containing the words mighty and/or crusaders:

There are certain stereotypes that are offensive. Some of them don’t worry me, though. For instance, I have always thought that Mammy character in Gone with the Wind was mighty funny. And I just loved “Amos ‘n’ Andy” on the radio. So you see, I have enough confidence in myself that those things did not bother me. I could laugh.
    Annie Elizabeth Delany (b. 1891)

Living more lives than one, knowing people of all classes, all shades of opinion, monarchists, republicans, socialists, anarchists, has had a salutary effect on my mind. If every year of my life, every month of the year, I had lived with reformers and crusaders I should be, by this time, a fanatic. As it is I have had such varied things to do, I have had so many different contacts that I am not even very much of a crank.
    Rheta Childe Dorr (1866–1948)
