National Healthy School Standard
The school has been awarded the National Healthy Schools Standard. The standard is awarded as part of the Healthy Schools Programme which promotes whole school health. To win the award, the school had to show that it was working hard to help its students to be emotionally and physically healthy.
Many teachers, support staff and students contributed to the school’s success in gaining the award. The kitchen staff work hard to produce healthy food that staff and students enjoy, and students learn about healthy eating in lessons. Physical activity is strongly promoted, with PE staff willing to supervise a huge number of sports on offer both in lessons, at lunchtime, after school, and at weekends, supported by dedicated students and parents who are trained as coaches. Emotional health is also promoted, and the school has been commended for its supportive, caring Christian ethos which enables students to make progress and achieve well.
