Bishop Foley Catholic High School

Bishop Foley Catholic High School is a co-educational Catholic high school affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. Founded in 1965, it is named for the first American Bishop of Detroit, John Samuel Foley. It is located in Madison Heights, Michigan and has an enrollment of 1023 students as of the 2012-2013 school year. It is governed by an advisory elected Board of Education, but the final power rests with the President, who is always the pastor of one of the school's two founding parishes: St. Dennis Church in Royal Oak, or Guardian Angels Church in Clawson. Bishop Foley is accredited by North Central (NCA).

Famous quotes containing the words high school, bishop, catholic, high and/or school:

There were metal detectors on the staff-room doors and Hernandez usually had a drawer full of push-daggers, nunchuks, stun-guns, knucks, boot-knives, and whatever else the detectors had picked up. Like Friday morning at a South Miami high school.
    William Gibson (b. 1948)

Apparently they have reached their destination.
It would be hard to say what brought them there,
    commerce or contemplation.
    —Elizabeth Bishop (1911–1979)

Every country gets the circus it deserves. Spain gets bullfights. Italy gets the Catholic Church. America gets Hollywood.
    Erica Jong (b. 1942)

From the beginning, the placement of [Clarence] Thomas on the high court was seen as a political end justifying almost any means. The full story of his confirmation raises questions not only about who lied and why, but, more important, about what happens when politics becomes total war and the truth—and those who tell it—are merely unfortunate sacrifices on the way to winning.
Jane Mayer, U.S. journalist, and Jill Abramson b. 1954, U.S. journalist. Strange Justice, p. 8, Houghton Mifflin (1994)

I’m tired of playing worn-out depressing ladies in frayed bathrobes. I’m going to get a new hairdo and look terrific and go back to school and even if nobody notices, I’m going to be the most self-fulfilled lady on the block.
    Joanne Woodward (b. 1930)
