Billy Sanders - Death

Death

Sanders committed suicide suffering from personal and serious financial difficulties. The lesson at his funeral was read by former world champion Bruce Penhall, who was a close personal friend.

His ashes were flown back to Australia where they are buried in Sydney.

The Australian national under-23s speedway championship is named the Bill Sanders Trophy in his memory.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

    If it be aught toward the general good,
    Set honor in one eye, and death i’th’ other,
    And I will look on both indifferently;
    For let the gods so speed me as I love
    The name of honor more than I fear death.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Cry woe, destruction, ruin, and decay:
    The worst is death, and death will have his day.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Solomon! where is thy throne? It is gone in the wind.
    Babylon! where is thy might? It is gone in the wind.
    Happy in death are they only whose hearts have consigned
    All Earth’s affections and longings and cares to the wind.
    James Clarence Mangan (1803–1849)
