Television and Film Projects At Billy Bob's

Billy Bob's Texas has also been host to many movie and television projects. Baja Oklahoma (Willie Nelson, Susan Sarandon), Over the Top (Sylvester Sallone), and Necessary Roughness (Scott Bakula, Sinbad) have all been filmed there. BBT has also hosted Walker, Texas Ranger, Dallas, CBS Happy New Year America, CBS This Morning, QVC and FX. Even the mirrored saddle above the Honky Tonk Dance Floor is from the movie Rhinestone, featuring Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone. Also, the bathroom scene where Leslie Ann Waren talks to the band in George Strait's "Pure Country", was also filmed at BBT.

Professional wrestling was also held here in the mid to late 1980s.

Famous quotes containing the words television, film, projects, billy and/or bob:

There is no question but that if Jesus Christ, or a great prophet from another religion, were to come back today, he would find it virtually impossible to convince anyone of his credentials ... despite the fact that the vast evangelical machine on American television is predicated on His imminent return among us sinners.
    Peter Ustinov (b. 1921)

The obvious parallels between Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz have frequently been noted: in both there is the orphan hero who is raised on a farm by an aunt and uncle and yearns to escape to adventure. Obi-wan Kenobi resembles the Wizard; the loyal, plucky little robot R2D2 is Toto; C3PO is the Tin Man; and Chewbacca is the Cowardly Lion. Darth Vader replaces the Wicked Witch: this is a patriarchy rather than a matriarchy.
Andrew Gordon, U.S. educator, critic. “The Inescapable Family in American Science Fiction and Fantasy Films,” Journal of Popular Film and Television (Summer 1992)

One of the things that is most striking about the young generation is that they never talk about their own futures, there are no futures for this generation, not any of them and so naturally they never think of them. It is very striking, they do not live in the present they just live, as well as they can, and they do not plan. It is extraordinary that whole populations have no projects for a future, none at all.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

“Oh, where have you been, Billy boy, Billy boy?
Oh, where have you been, charming Billy?”
“I’ve been to seek a wife,
She’s the joy of my life,
She’s a young thing, and cannot leave her mother.”
    —Unknown. Billy Boy (l. 1–5)

For all the boredom the straight life brings, it’s not too bad.
Gus Van Sant, U.S. screenwriter and director, and Dan Yost. Bob Hughes (Matt Dillon)
