Big Brother 3 (U.S.) - Summary

Summary

On Day 1, 12 new HouseGuests entered the Big Brother house. Later that night, they participated in the first food competition, in which they partnered up, grabbed bags of groceries, and climbed into a nest in a tree in the backyard. The food the group did not grab would not be supplied for them that week. The group earned groceries for the week, and later learned they would be competing for more than food. The last pair in their nest would win a $3,000 growing cash prize, which would increase each week the pair was in the house together. If one member of the pair was evicted, the prize would stop growing. A total of $30,000 was possible, should the two make it to the end together. Jason and Lori were the eventual winners of the cash prize. On Day 2, Lisa won the "Wheel of First Impressions" Head of Household competition. In the "Eggs Over Easy" food competition, the men and women tossed eggs to one another, each egg having a food item on it. Lisa later nominated Lori and Marcellas for eviction, with hopes that Marcellas would be evicted. At the first Power of Veto competition, the "Saving Face" competition, Gerry earned the first Silver Power of Veto. He removed Marcellas from the block and accused the others of nominating him for "racist and homophobic" reasons. Lisa chose Amy as the replacement nominee. Amy, Eric, Gerry, Lisa, Marcellas, and Tonya were the winners of the "Luau Luxury" luxury competition, which involved missing items from the house. On Day 13, Lori was evicted in a five to four vote.

Following Lori's eviction, Marcellas won the "In the House" competition, which involved players answering questions by giving a room in the house as an answer. They would hold up an item which stood for a specific room. During the "Brownie House" food competition, the contestants split into two teams and ate a chocolate house using no hands. Josh was disqualified for cheating, but his team won the competition by a few points. Marcellas nominated Tonya and Josh for eviction that week. Danielle won the America's Choice competition that week, which involved the HouseGuests using each other as bowling balls. During the "An Offer You Can't Refuse" Veto competition, the HouseGuests made deals with one another in exchange for Veto boxes. The holder of the Veto box with the Power of Veto inside was the holder of the Power of Veto that week; Danielle was the winner. She left Marcellas's nominations intact. On Day 20, Tonya was evicted in a five to three vote.

Following Tonya's eviction, Roddy won the "One Step Beyond" Head of Household competition. The "Gastronomik Batik" food competition involved sliding labeled game chips into a container. Whichever got into the container was the House's supply of food for the week. The House was awarded sweets, cheeses and Subway sandwiches. Roddy nominated Marcellas and Amy for eviction, and declared Amy as his target. The America's Choice vote allowed Marcellas to bring one person with him to a private dinner in the Diary Room; he chose Amy. The "Pool Sharks" Power of Veto competition required the players to knock a ball into the pool that showed the person that should not be the Veto winner. The last person with their ball outside of the pool won the Power of Veto. Eric was the winner of the Power of Veto and did not use it. On Day 27, Amy was evicted in a seven to zero vote.

Following Amy's eviction, Gerry won the "Face Off" Head of Household competition, which involved the players answering questions about the previously evicted HouseGuests. The food competition was a bidding race, "I Can Eat Anything Better Than You". The winning team got food for the week while the losing team was on the peanut butter and jelly diet all week long. In the end, Marcellas, Lisa, Jason and Eric won food for the week. Gerry nominated Eric and Lisa for eviction that week. Chiara won the "Turnover" Power of Veto competition, which was a test of memory. She did not use the Veto. In the America's Choice poll, Jason was awarded a letter from home. On Day 34, Eric was evicted in a four to three vote, after Gerry broke a tie against him.

Following Eric's eviction, Chiara won the "Gutter Ball" Head of Household competition, which featured a bowling theme. The food competition called "Ballast" involved pulling labeled logs out of a structure. The House won cookies and other food items. Chiara nominated Josh and Roddy for eviction that week. In the America's Choice poll, the house was awarded a microwave from the viewers. Lisa won the "Clockwork" Power of Veto competition and left nominations the same. Later that week, the HouseGuests learned that one of the four previously evicted HouseGuests would be returning to the game. On Day 41, Josh was evicted in a five to zero vote. The first four evictees were asked how much of the prize money they would be willing to give up in return for a chance to enter the house again. Each of the houseguests said half except Lori, who was only willing to give up $50,000 and was therefore eliminated from consideration. Next, the houseguests were asked how many of the remaining days they would be willing to eat only PB&J in order to earn a chance to return. Tonya said half, but Eric and Amy both said they would eat it for all the remaining days and were the last 2 left. Then, the HouseGuests still in the house voted on which of the two they wanted to return; they chose Amy in a five to two vote.

Following her return to the game, Amy won the "HouseGuest Soup" endurance Head of Household, which involved the HouseGuests sitting in a bathtub that was continuously filled with gross items. The food competition called "Whirlwind Booth" involved collecting food vouchers and the HouseGuests had the chance to earn money. In the end, they all gave Gerry the money for his 28th anniversary. Amy nominated Chiara and Roddy for eviction that week. Gerry won the "Slippery Proposition" Power of Veto competition and left nominations the same. Singer Sheryl Crow made an appearance in the house to perform that week in the first two-hour-long episode. On Day 48, Chiara was evicted in a four to one vote.

Jason won the "Who Said It?" Head of Household competition following Chiara's eviction. The food competition called "Making the Donuts" involved collecting and getting giant donuts through an obstacle course in less than seven minutes. In the end, they won some food, baked goods, and coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. Jason nominated Amy and Gerry for eviction that week. Jason won the "Gnome Drop" Power of Veto competition, which involved answering multiple choice questions and chopping ropes that the gnomes are attached to. He left nominations the same. The America's Choice Poll awarded Danielle with a video message from home. On Day 55, Gerry was evicted in a four to zero vote.

Following Gerry's eviction, Marcellas won the "Evicted Statements" Head of Household competition. In the food competition called "Sweet Surprise", the HouseGuest had to locate seven medallions in the soon to be locked Map Room (a.k.a. High Rent District). The HouseGuests retrieved all of the medallions, meaning there was no PB&J for the week. Marcellas nominated Amy and Roddy for eviction that week. In Week 8's veto competition "Big Brother Charm School", the HouseGuests went through various obstacles with a veto balanced on their head. The person with least amount of time (including penalties) won the veto. Amy was the winner. She and Jason also won massages. On Day 62, Roddy was evicted in a three to zero vote.

Following Roddy's eviction, Jason won the "Freezeframe" Head of Household competition. In the food competition called "Dinner Party From Hell", each team had to consume a plate of food in a backyard setting. The HouseGuests did not get any food for the week. They ate only PB&J. Jason nominated Amy and Marcellas for eviction that week. Jason later revealed the Golden Power of Veto to the remaining five players, in which a nominee could use the Power of Veto to save themselves from the nomination block. In the "Laser Labrynth" Veto competition, the HouseGuests had to walk over pictures of evicted HouseGuests in the correct order. Marcellas was the winner of the final Big Brother 3 Power of Veto. In a shocking move, he did not use the Power of Veto on himself, and he was evicted in a two to one vote, with Jason breaking a tie against him telling him " You sholud've used the veto".

Following Marcellas's eviction, Danielle won the "...And Then There Were Four" Head of Household competition. In the final food competition called "Squeezeplay", the HouseGuests dressed in sponge suits for the week's food competition. In the end, they filled five out of seven pools. The missed pools were Indian food and Mexican. The choices of food they won were Southern Barbecue, Surf 'N Turf, Chinese, and Japanese. America gave Lisa a chat with fans on the Internet. To Lisa's surprise, ex-HouseGuest Eric logged on to hype up the chat. In a luxury competition, the final four were offered phone calls after searching to find the phones through the house as well as one thousand in cash for a loved one. They were all called into the diary room one by one where Julie offered more tempting prizes in addition to their phone call and the $1000 for a loved one. The prizes were five thousand to up to fifteen thousand but if one accepted, the others would not get anything. Danielle accepted at 5, Amy at 10, Jason at 15. If more the one person accepted, the person with the lowest number on their cell phone won. Therefore, Amy won. In a luxury competition called "Surf's Up", taking the place of the now-powerless Veto competitions, the four took turns riding the surfboard. The two who stayed on the longest were Amy and Jason, giving them the chance to go on an ocean cruise outside of the house. On Day 76, Amy was evicted with Jason casting the sole vote against her.

The final 3 HouseGuests: Jason, Danielle, and Lisa competed for the final HOH. By winning, that HouseGuest could choose one person to take to the finals with them. Lisa won round 1 of the final HoH competition called "HOH Lifeboat", while Jason won round 2 of the final HoH competition, "Household Chores". Overall, Lisa won the HoH competition, "Jury Statements". Lisa evicted Jason from the Big Brother House on Day 78 in a one to zero vote. Lisa and Danielle became the final two HouseGuests. The evicted HouesGuests asked Lisa and Danielle questions, and the two gave their responses. The evicted HouseGuests cast their votes through a special Diary Room of a jury house, specially made for the finale. Before entering the house to reveal their votes, the evicted HouseGuests chatted with Julie Chen in her studio. The evicted HouseGuests returned to the house for the first time since being evicted to vote for a winner. Lori, Tonya, Amy, Eric, Josh, Chiara, Gerry, Roddy and Marcellas all voted for Lisa to win. Jason was the only one to vote for Danielle to win. Lisa won the third season by a vote of 9-1. This jury vote was the reason jurors are now sequestered until the final vote.

Famous quotes containing the word summary:

Product of a myriad various minds and contending tongues, compact of obscure and minute association, a language has its own abundant and often recondite laws, in the habitual and summary recognition of which scholarship consists.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
