Big Brother 2001 (UK) - Summary

Summary

On Day 1, the original ten housemates - Bubble, Amma, Helen, Narinder, Stuart, Dean, Brian, Penny, Paul and Elizabeth - entered the house. During the first night, the housemates were informed by Big Brother that the Den had been unlocked, and they could now enter it. Upon entering, they found a dummy and a note, stating that an eleventh housemate would enter shortly after the first eviction. On Day 2, they were given their first weekly task. They were required to build a fire in the backyard by noon, and had to keep it lit for a consecutive 120 hours - five days. The fire had to be watched by two or more housemates at all times. They wagered 30% of their weekly budget on the task.

The task for this week was to learn first-aid. The housemates had to treat injured “people” on the assessment day. Housemates passed this task. Penny became the first housemate to be evicted on Day 15.

Josh entered the House on Day 16. The weekly task was for housemates to pair up and learn 10 facts about each other. The housemates passed this task, as only Josh failed his part of the task. Stuart was evicted on Day 22.

The fourth weekly task was for housemates to adopt an individual dance and perform it on request from Big Brother at anytime between 8am and 2am for 5 days. The housemates failed this task when Josh was not on the platform on time during a group dance. Narinder was evicted on Day 29.

The weekly task of Week 5 was for housemates to attempt to set new Guinness World Records. The housemates passed this task because Dean had set the record for the highest sugar cube tower. Bubble was evicted on Day 36.

The sixth weekly task was for housemates to teach a dog (called Paddy) tricks, including “fetching” and “playing dead”. The housemates failed this task because Paddy didn't know how to fetch. The dog which housemates had to train, Paddy, died in June 2008 and the episode of Big Brother shown on 26 June 2008, was dedicated to him, making it the first Big Brother episode to have been dedicated. Amma was evicted on Day 43.

The task was for housemate’s to dismantle a drum kit, move it over an obstacle course and then re-assemble it in 8 and a quarter minutes. Housemates passed this task, doing it in 8 minutes and 1 second. Josh was evicted on Day 50.

The eighth weekly task was for housemates to take part in playground games. They had to do skipping, ride a pogo stick, hula-hoop and space hopper. Housemates had six minutes to complete the task. They failed the task, taking nine minutes. Paul was evicted on Day 57.

Elizabeth was evicted in fourth place on Day 63. Dean and Helen left in third and second place respectively on Day 64 and Brian left as the winner of Big Brother 2001.

Famous quotes containing the word summary:

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

Product of a myriad various minds and contending tongues, compact of obscure and minute association, a language has its own abundant and often recondite laws, in the habitual and summary recognition of which scholarship consists.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)
