Big Boy (song) - Reception and Jackson Family

Reception and Jackson Family

The Jackson family gathered around a radio to hear the song broadcast for the first time. Michael Jackson — who was 9 years old at the time — said of the experience, " all laughed and hugged one another. We felt we had arrived." The single "Big Boy" did not appear on any of Billboard's music charts but sold in excess of 10,000 copies.

Famous quotes containing the words reception, jackson and/or family:

I gave a speech in Omaha. After the speech I went to a reception elsewhere in town. A sweet old lady came up to me, put her gloved hand in mine, and said, “I hear you spoke here tonight.” “Oh, it was nothing,” I replied modestly. “Yes,” the little old lady nodded, “that’s what I heard.”
    Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)

I have no motive, Brothers, to deceive you. I am sincerely desirous to promote your welfare. Listen to me, therefore, while I tell you that you cannot remain where you now are. Circumstances that cannot be controlled, which are beyond the reach of human laws, render it impossible that you can flourish in the midst of a civilized community.
    —Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)

What we often take to be family values—the work ethic, honesty, clean living, marital fidelity, and individual responsibility—are in fact social, religious, or cultural values. To be sure, these values are transmitted by parents to their children and are familial in that sense. They do not, however, originate within the family. It is the value of close relationships with other family members, and the importance of these bonds relative to other needs.
    David Elkind (20th century)
