Bheemunipatnam

Bheemunipatnam (Telugu: భీమునిపట్నం, భీమిలి; also known as Bhimunipattanam or Bimlipatam and Bheemili), is a town, a municipality and mandal headquarters in Visakhapatnam district, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.

It was the second municipality in Indian mainland, established on 9 February 1861. 150-Years of its formation has been celebrated in 2011.

Bheemunipatnam is supposed to have originated in the days of the mahabharatha (its named after Bheema) as per legends. Most probably its origins were around the 3rd century BCE related to early Buddhism in Andhra Pradesh
