Berwick, Columbus, Ohio

Berwick is a middle-class neighborhood made up of a diverse racial and religious population on the eastside of Columbus, Ohio just south of the suburb of Bexley, Ohio. Developed in the early 1950s, it is known as the home of Columbus' black elite, but also has a strong Jewish community. According to Census 2000, the total population of the neighborhood was 4,639 with 55% (2,549) being Non-Hispanic Black alone and 41% (1,916) being Non-Hispanic White alone. In 2000, the average annual household income was $61,237. Among households with a Black householder the average household income was $63,372, while those with a White householder it was $58,768.
