Bergen Catholic High School - Technology Program

Technology Program

As part of Bergen Catholic High School's laptop program which began with the class of 2007, students buy a ThinkPad through the school as their own laptop for completing work that requires internet access and for taking notes. Uses of the computer include interactive whiteboards and Edline. The school custom-installs software on each student's computer, such as the screen monitoring program DyKnow and various test programs.

Edline is used to allow students to communicate with their teachers, and stay up to date with their homework assignments and standing in the class. Bergen Catholic has recently introduced Turnitin, which offers an extensive plagiarism prevention tool utilized by most of the faculty. DyKnow Monitoring is used to monitor students' screens and ensure that students are on task, as well as collect assignments via file transfer.

Famous quotes containing the words technology and/or program:

Radio put technology into storytelling and made it sick. TV killed it. Then you were locked into somebody else’s sighting of that story. You no longer had the benefit of making that picture for yourself, using your imagination. Storytelling brings back that humanness that we have lost with TV. You talk to children and they don’t hear you. They are television addicts. Mamas bring them home from the hospital and drag them up in front of the set and the great stare-out begins.
    Jackie Torrence (b. 1944)

In 1862 the congregation of the church forwarded the church bell to General Beauregard to be melted into cannon, “hoping that its gentle tones, that have so often called us to the House of God, may be transmuted into war’s resounding rhyme to repel the ruthless invader from the beautiful land God, in his goodness, has given us.”
—Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
