Ethical Treatises
Berechiah was also the author of an ethical treatise entitled Sefer Matzref. The treatise is divided into thirteen chapters. In it he quotes Rabbi Abraham ibn Daud (died about 1198) without the formula for the dead, so that it is quite probable that the book was composed before 1180.

Famous quotes containing the words ethical and/or treatises:
“My belief is that no being and no society composed of human beings ever did, or ever will, come to much unless their conduct was governed and guided by the love of some ethical ideal.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“[T]here is a Wit for Discourse, and a Wit for Writing. The Easiness and Familiarity of the first, is not to savour in the least of Study; but the Exactness of the other, is to admit of something like the Freedom of Discourse, especially in Treatises of Humanity, and what regards the Belles Lettres.”
—Richard Steele (16721729)
