Current Design
The mascot logo has seen several alterations since its inception. It was last redesigned in 2000 by Morrow Creative Group of Portland, Oregon. The new version (shown top left) was officially adopted by the university in 2001 and often referred to by fans as the "Angry Beaver." The make-over came about, in part, due a long desire by the company's CEO Michael Morrow to update the look, coupled with the university's successful fund raising campaign to expand the university's football stadium (Reser Stadium) in 1999 and 2000. Quietly debuting with the Angry Beaver, a slightly altered version of the original "Friendly Benny" logo appeared. The newer version simplified the logo, removing several fine details and making the logo more suitable for modern marketing.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or design:
“It is a quite remarkable fact that the great religions of the most civilized peoples are more deeply fraught with sadness than the simpler beliefs of earlier societies. This certainly does not mean that the current of pessimism is eventually to submerge the other, but it proves that it does not lose ground and that it does not seem destined to disappear.”
—Emile Durkheim (18581917)
“A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible. There are no prima donnas in engineering.”
—Freeman Dyson (b. 1923)
