During his marriage to Margaret Mansfield, Arnold had three sons, all of whom later served in the British Army:

- Richard Arnold (1769–1847) (Lieutenant)
- Henry Arnold (1772–1826)
and with Peggy Shippen, he raised a family also active in the British Army:
