Ben Lomond High School - Rivalry

Rivalry

Ben Lomond has a long running rivalry with Ogden High School which culminates each year with the season final football game known as the "Iron Horse" game. The winner of this game takes possession of a trophy called the Iron Horse which depicts two trains meeting head-to-head, one train reading BLHS and the other OHS. The base of the trophy is adorned with plaques that are inscribed with a year (1954–present) and the name of that year's victorious school. In the most recent game, the 2012 Iron Horse game, held September 7, 2012, Ben Lomond lost to OHS 54-0. Their overall record in the Iron Horse is 17-48.

Famous quotes containing the word rivalry:

Sisters define their rivalry in terms of competition for the gold cup of parental love. It is never perceived as a cup which runneth over, rather a finite vessel from which the more one sister drinks, the less is left for the others.
    Elizabeth Fishel (20th century)

It seems to me that we have to draw the line in sibling rivalry whenever rivalry goes out of bounds into destructive behavior of a physical or verbal kind. The principle needs to be this: Whatever the reasons for your feelings you will have to find civilized solutions.
    Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)
