It rests atop the Axemann Formation (Oa), or the Nittany Formation, for example between Tyrone and Water Street, Pennsylvania, where the Axemann is missing, and the Loysburg Formation of interbedded limestone and dolomite conformably overlies the Bellefonte Formation.
