Beaumont Botanical Gardens

The Beaumont Botanical Gardens (23.5 acres), also known as the Tyrrell Park Botanical Gardens, are botanical gardens and a conservatory located in Tyrrell Park at 6088 Babe Zaharias Drive, Beaumont, Texas, USA. The gardens are open to the public every day during daylight hours at no charge; the conservatory has relatively restrictive hours and charges an admission fee.

The gardens contain the Binks Horticultural Center; the 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) Warren Loose Conservatory which features tropical plants from around the world, a waterfall, a Koi fish pool; and many theme gardens displaying camellias, modern and antique roses, bromeliads, and native plants. The gardens were first established in 1968, with the Beaumont Garden Center Building dedicated on August 20, 1971. In 1972, a master plan for the gardens was drawn up, and labeling of the trees, vines, and shrubs begun. The Beaumont Garden Center became the Beaumont Botanical Gardens in 1996.

Famous quotes containing the words beaumont, botanical and/or gardens:

    Radiation burns. Men did this to me. Men and their wars.
    —Charles Beaumont (1930–1967)

    Evolution was all over my chldhood, walks abroad with an evolutionist and the world was full of evolution, biological and botanical evolution.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

    Have We not made the earth as a cradle
    and the mountains as pegs?
    And We created you in pairs,
    and We appointed your sleep for a rest;
    and We appointed night for a garment,
    and We appointed day for a livelihood.
    And We have built above you seven strong ones,
    and We appointed a blazing lamp
    and have sent down out of the rain-clouds water cascading
    that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants,
    and gardens luxuriant.
    Qur’an, “The Tiding” 78:6-16, ed. Arthur J. Arberry (1955)
