Be Our Guest - Stage and Live Versions

Stage and Live Versions

Actor Jerry Orbach performed "Be Our Guest" live in character as Lumiere at the 64th Academy Awards in 1992. Less than two years later, "Be Our Guest" was featured as a musical number in the now-closed Broadway adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, originally performed by Gary Beach as Lumiere and Beth Fowler as Mrs. Potts.

Famous quotes containing the words stage, live and/or versions:

It is a mass language only in the same sense that its baseball slang is born of baseball players. That is, it is a language which is being molded by writers to do delicate things and yet be within the grasp of superficially educated people. It is not a natural growth, much as its proletarian writers would like to think so. But compared with it at its best, English has reached the Alexandrian stage of formalism and decay.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

For my part, I would rather look toward Rutland than Jerusalem. Rutland,—modern town,—land of ruts,—trivial and worn,—not too sacred,—with no holy sepulchre, but profane green fields and dusty roads, and opportunity to live as holy a life as you can, where the sacredness, if there is any, is all in yourself and not in the place.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny man’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
    Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
