Bay County Sports Hall of Fame - Selection Process

Selection Process

A screening committee selects a group of between 25 and 40 candidates for consideration, which have been submitted by the public throughout the previous year. Files detailing the qualifications of each candidate are reviewed by the committee and a list of 25 names are placed on the official ballot. This official ballot is mailed to all Voting Members of the organization, which include all past directors, inductees, and Life Members. The ballots are counted, and in July of each year, the winners are notified. Those who accept are honored at the annual banquet in October, and a plaque with their name is displayed prominently at the city's Community Center.

Famous quotes containing the words selection and/or process:

Judge Ginsburg’s selection should be a model—chosen on merit and not ideology, despite some naysaying, with little advance publicity. Her treatment could begin to overturn a terrible precedent: that is, that the most terrifying sentence among the accomplished in America has become, “Honey—the White House is on the phone.”
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

The invention of photography provided a radically new picture-making process—a process based not on synthesis but on selection. The difference was a basic one. Paintings were made—constructed from a storehouse of traditional schemes and skills and attitudes—but photographs, as the man on the street put, were taken.
    Jean Szarkowski (b. 1925)
